Working at the academic/industry interface, CTx has a strong focus on training graduate and postgraduate students in skills related to the emerging Australian pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, CTx supports careers in cancer drug discovery, in particular through building capacity in translational biology and medicinal chemistry. Study and travel scholarships as well as on-the-job training initiatives are available for top undergraduates, associate PhD students and early career researchers.

CTx PhD Affiliate Program and Travel Scholarships
PhD and masters students at member organisations working in the appropriate fields are eligible to join the CTx Affiliate program. As well as having access to the CTx student symposium and other educational events, affiliate students can apply for Travel scholarships (both national and international) for study purposes.

The final event of STEMM Bootcamp was a Pitching and networking event at which participants in the program, who had consolidated their learning by undertaking a group ‘capstone project’ pitched their strategy and value proposition for a fictitious pre-clinical product to an appreciative audience of Industry professionals.
Early Career Researchers: Whether you are at the bench, a budding entrepreneur in the making, or perhaps keen to broaden your career options, STEMM Bootcamp is for you! The course, being jointly administered by CTx and Biomedical Research Victoria, is designed help you get a perspective on the process required for translation & commercialisation of your research. STEMM bootcamp is structured around 8 masterclasses running from September 2016 to June 2017, through which you will be introduced to a range of topics including IP Strategy & Plans, Market & Competitor Analysis, Project Management and more.To learn more, visit the STEMM Central portal at stemmcentral.com
PhD Top Up Scholarships
CTx has awarded all available PhD top up scholarships and is no longer accepting applications
For students enrolled at CTx Participant organisations with an existing competitive postgraduate award, CTx offers two types of PhD Top Up Scholarship:
• CTx PhD Top Up Scholarship
Each PhD Top Up scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of three years, and has a total value of $10,000 per annum. Of this, $7,000 will be awarded directly to the student and $3,000 will be awarded to the supervisor(s) as a grant to support the student in travel to conferences or to help defray costs of the student’s project.
• CTx Clinician Researcher PhD Top Up Scholarship
CTx is committed to supporting translational research in cancer biology. We are therefore offering specific scholarships to medically qualified PhD students. Each Clinician Researcher PhD Top Up scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of three years, and has a total value of $20,000 per annum. Of this, $17,000 will be awarded to the student and $3,000 will be awarded to the supervisor(s) as a grant to support the student in conference travel or to help with costs of the student’s project.
